Moose Hunting &
Moose/Whitetail Deer Hunting Success Rates with Trophy Book Outfitters
You will always remember the thrill
of observing the moose in his native habitat and the challenges involved
with hunting the Canadian moose. We are
well experienced hunters ourselves, and we take great pride in helping
our guests achieve hunting success.

Hunting Season
Archery Moose Hunt
Again we had a very good rut this
season. The weather was pleasantly mild but we had several good
frosts. The adrenaline rush is hard to describe when a bull
moose is grunting continuously as he comes crashing through
the bush towards you and your have only your bow. Our three
archery hunters were all successful in harvesting their bulls
within one to three days into their hunt. Interestingly enough,
each of these bulls were shot at 7 yards. Now here are some
stories you might want to check out.
Wilderness Moose Hunt
During the past six seasons we
enjoyed total success with each rifle hunter harvesting his
moose. This year we added some archery hunters. Both Doc and
Bill harvested good moose during the pre-rut archery season.
Terry, who had booked our first rifle hunt came a week early
to try with his bow. "Lucky" Terry harvested a bull
just over 40" while sitting at a mineral lick. As the rut
season just started, Dwayne, another rifle hunter, had little
difficulty in harvesting a good bull in a few days. Terry D.,
our last rifle hunter wanted to come with his bow during the
archery season but since we were booked he came with his rifle.
Terry harvested a massive bull just under 50". If you ask
Terry about his adventure he will tell you that he saw 36 moose
on his hunt. He may tell you that he saw a 55"-60"
bull up close on the last day while videoing with his guide.
Then again he might not, as he is planning to come back.

Hunting Season
Archery Moose Hunt
The moose rut was very active
this fall. We had good frosts and cool weather during the peak
of the rut. The woods were echoing with the sounds of cow calls
and bull grunts. We only had one archery moose hunter this season.
We had several last minute cancellations due to a shoulder separation
and a family illness. Our lone bowhunter's hunt lasted into
the second day. Shooting a custom made Palmer recurve, he successfully
harvested a good bull close to 50". Many other smaller
bulls were called to within shooting distance before the bigger
one was harvested. Our bowhunter had hunted moose without success
five other times in various parts of the country before he hunted
with us. This one was almost too easy.
Wilderness
Moose Hunt
The moose rut season starts on September 24 and runs through
to October 31. During this rut season moose can be hunted with
black powder or rifle. This season we had three rifle hunters.
We hunt in a very remote wilderness area that has an extremely
high moose population. The moose rut was quite intense this
year. The bulls were traveling about throughout the day hoping
to locate that love sick cow. This made them respond to lonesome
cow calls very readily. Many bulls we called in with a large
number of moose being seen. Our first two hunters both harvested
good bulls on the first day being 40" and 51" respectively.
Our third hunter passed on a bull about 45" the first morning
and then harvested a 40" on the fourth day. Again we enjoyed
some short hunts with 100% success.
