Alberta Canada Black Bear Hunting
Guided Black Bear Bowhunts & Rifle Bear Hunts

We offer baited black bear hunts and a two bear limit in prime black bear country. Baiting allows the hunter a close encounter which is ideally suited for the archery and muzzleloader hunter. Rifle hunters are also welcome. Alberta is renowned for its large black bear population and colored bears. Many bears harvested in Alberta over the past years have made the record books.

Black Bear Hunts:
A typical day starts with a hearty breakfast. We normally go to the bait sites in the late afternoon. Should hunters want to hunt in the morning or during the day, this can be easily arranged. We mainly travel to bait sites on ATV's enabling us to access remote sites inaccessible by other means. We generally hunt until dark when the "big guys" come to the bait, which is between 10:30 and 11:00pm. The average male black bear will weigh 200-300lbs and measures approximately 5'-6' nose to tail. The larger black bears will weigh up to 600lbs and have a length up to 8'.

Baiting:
The best way to look over a good trophy bear is at close range. Baits are set up for shots at 10-20 yards. All of our baits are strategically placed in prime black bear habitat to attract a large number of bears and of course very large bears. Baits are spread over about 50 miles, ensuring we attract many bears to each site and they are not over harvested. Recently we expanded into an adjacent area that has not been baited before. All of our other baits are well established and have multiple black bears on them.

We bait very aggressively at all of the bait sites often with several 55 gallon drums at each site. We provide a great variety of bait types. After 40 years of baiting black bears we've found the bears like a good smorgasbord and a good variety of fresh food. We also use some of their natural foods like beavers and fish. We offer hunters their choice of our many bait sites. You can sit on a different bait each night if you choose. Many sites have large wooden platforms and a ladder for easy access. These stands can easily accommodate family members or hunting buddies who may want to video the action. There isn't anything better than a large platform stand when a curious bear decides to climb your tree and you may need to pepper spray him at close range.

Camp Options
We offer 2 options for our spring bear hunts and 1 option for fall bear hunts. No matter which hunt you choose, you are sure to have an enjoyable and successful hunt.

Trappers Camp - Fall Black Bear Hunts
This camp is located along the Firebag River. The numerous, well established baits will be hunted by ATV's and a jet boat. Experience a very personalized hunt. Enjoy this nature outing with our guide who will share his many experiences and knowledge with you. This will be a truly memorable experience. Your camera is a must!

Remote Fly in Camp - Spring Black Bear Hunts
This camp is located about 30 minutes from Ft. McMurray accessible by float plane. Our hunters will fly into this camp about mid morning on Sunday and return to Ft. McMurray the following Sunday. This will allow the hunters 7 evenings to hunt if they choose, plenty of time to look over those bears and outsmart the big ones.

This remote camp provides a true wilderness experience located in prime black bear habitat. Much of this area has never been hunted before. The bait sites will be accessed by 4-wheelers and argos.
If you would like to hunt in a virgin area over new baits, this may be the hunt for you. It is anticipated that this hunt will fill up fast since we have limited numbers. We encourage you to act quickly.

Spot & Stalk Bear Hunts- Spring Black Bear Hunts
We also offer spot and stalk black bear hunts through Jody's Guiding Service. Jody has been providing the wilderness moose hunts with a very high success rate and has also enjoyed high success with the black bear hunts. Several record book bears have been taken including some B&C trophies along with color phases. This is a two bear area with a high wolf population. Wolves can be combined with these bear hunts. This hunt is located about 2-3 hours northwest of Edmonton, Alberta. The hunters will stay in a holiday type trailer with many conveniences. The hunt will be mainly by driving the many oil company roads and pipelines in the area with truck and ATV's. Glassing prime feeding areas has been another successful tactic. After the selected trophy has been identified, the hunter and guide will attempt to stalk within comfortable shooting distances. The hunters generally have numerous bear sitings on this hunt, which gives them plenty of opportunity to select the bears of their choice.

Watch Bear Hunting Videos- We have 2 black bear hunting home DVD's with numerous black bear hunts/kill scenes, which includes our camp and hunting adventures.
